The “Branding Taiwan” Plan

After a successful transition from OEM to ODM, Taiwan is currently making great progress in evolving itself and entering into the era of OBM, or Original Brand Manufacturing. In order to facilitate Taiwanese enterprises in shifting to international branding, advance the growth and development of brands, as well as create a more conducive environment for brands to grow, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan carried out the Executive Yuan's “Branding Taiwan Plan” in 2006. In addition, the Image Enhancement Plan (IEP) was incorporated into this plan, speeding up the globalization of Taiwan businesses and boosting their determination for market competitiveness. Thus, the image and brands of Taiwan enterprises can be greatly enhanced, creating an even more favorable environment for international branding efforts.

The Branding Taiwan Plan includes:

  1. establishing a branding venture capital fund
  2. creating an ideal and conducive environment for branding
  3. establishing a brand assessment system
  4. setting up training programs to supply the demand for relevant talents
  5. building a consultation platform for information on branding
  6. raising the international profile of Taiwan's distinctive industries.

Through these strategies we hope to provide a better environment for developing branding and increase the international branding image of Taiwan. Just as hundreds of flowers bloom all over the world, it is also our utmost wish to see hundreds of brands grow and become renowned all across the globe.
